Depression is a severe psychiatric disorder. Even though the patients can be cured with a variety of synthetic pharmaceuticals, only two-thirds of patients respond to such therapy. Traditional medicine can provide new active principles for the treatment of depression. Besides real therapeutic value, its potential for drug-drug interactions should also be evaluated. Our project aims to study the impact of promising herbal antidepressant salidroside on the most important drug metabolising enzymes.
