| Popis | This talk explores the present tense of Ukrainian verbs, focusing on two classes that differ in root behaviour. Class 1 roots remain stable, while class 2 roots show systematic alternations in 1sg and 3pl. I argue these alternations are triggered by two distinct palatalizers—?j and ^j—active in specific person/number contexts. Using Nanosyntax, I further show how present tense forms of both classes can be derived, offering new insights into Ukrainian verbal morphology and the syntax-phonology interface. |
