Our Priority Is to Provide Excellent Services to MU Employees and Students

At the beginning of 2023, a new director Jan Mysliveček joined us, whose priority is to provide top IT services to Masaryk University. At the end of March, all staff and students received an email directly from him asking for feedback on the eight main areas of service we provide. The survey received approximately 2900 responses, which were fairly balanced and positive.

By Images: The Final Workshop of the Project Attracted 3D Printing Enthusiasts

On Thursday, April 27, the conference room of the Faculty of Education hosted the final workshop on the 3D printing project and its application in primary and secondary schools. A large number of visitors from the ranks of teachers, project managers and ordinary 3D printing enthusiasts came to view models, puzzles and 3D maps and listen to presentations by experts on methodology and results. Newly Created Documentation Will Help Administrators with Service Integration

One of the smaller projects within the Development Fund of the CESNET association focused on the creation of documentation for connecting various software components to Single Sign-on. The main goal was to make it easier for administrators to integrate services and contribute to user friendliness and security.

By Images: How It Looked at This Year's MjUNI

In mid-April, together with the Faculty of Informatics, we participated in the university-wide MjUNI event, the MU lifelong education program intended for pupils and students from 9 to 18 years of age. Our CSIRT-MU Cybersecurity Team showed the young participants that protection in cyberspace concerns all of us. In a playful way, they learned, for example, what tricks hackers use and how long it takes them to crack a good password. See how it looked at the event, which was attended by over 400 children.

The Final Workshop of the 3D Printing Project Promises Interactivity.

On Thursday, April 27, we will co-organize the final workshop of the "3D printing and its applications in primary and secondary schools" project, where we will present the results we have achieved to those interested, together with models, lessons and other 3D aids that can be used in teaching. The entire event is free and will take place on the premises of the MU Faculty of Education.

Michaela Capandová: I Want to Bring a Laboratory Experience into the World of Administration around Science

We may call her a newcomer at ICS, but she is definitely not a novice in research. She has been intensively devoted to research for many years as part of her doctoral studies at the Faculty of Medicine. Our colleague Michaela Capandová is the holder of the ORION Open Science grant - and mainly because of her experience in scientific practice, she has become a new addition to the EOSC CZ Secretariat team. We were interested in where she sees her potential in activities related to open science and whether, as a female scientist, she has the same conditions and opportunities for research as men.

A Project Facilitating Criminal Investigation was Recently Launched

The four-year AFoLab project, led by Tom Rebok (head of our data analytics team), continues the long-term successful cooperation between ICS and the Police of the Czech Republic. The project focuses on automating complex and repetitive data-analytical activities of police investigators, who will thus be able to focus on more complex and advanced activities of crime investigations.

Significant European Projects Successfully Launched!

Two large European projects with our participation successfully started in November. The Genomic Data Infrastructure project aims to create a data infrastructure that will enable secure access to genomics and corresponding clinical data across Europe. The BioMedAI Twinning project brings artificial intelligence experts from Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic to build an expert center for developing artificial intelligence methods in biomedical applications.
