Social Safety at ICS MU

At Masaryk University, the concept of social safety refers to an environment where students, employees, and visitors feel respected, protected, and free to be themselves without fear of discrimination, harassment, or other forms of inappropriate behavior.

ICS is committed to adhering to measures that contribute to the creation and maintenance of such an environment.

What does the concept of social safety include?

  • Equal treatment and non-discrimination
  • Prevention and resolution of harassment (including sexual harassment), bullying, and violence
  • Support for mental health
  • Support for diversity and inclusion

If you would like to learn more about the topic of social safety, you can access the E-course on Social Safety in IS MU (e-course available in English), or attend the Respect at Universities course organized by CERPEK.

Sexual Harassment

Masaryk University has established a network of contact persons who provide support and advice to victims, witnesses, and individuals accused of sexual harassment. These contact persons are professionally trained in the subject and actively engaged in the topic – they have completed tailored workshops led by the organization Konsent and are thoroughly familiar with the procedures for handling such cases at the university.

If you reach out to a contact person, you can expect them to listen to you, present the support tools available both within and outside the university according to your specific situation, and explain the process of addressing such a case at MU. All of this can help you make an informed decision about how to handle your situation.

If you decide to escalate your case within the university framework, the contact person will assist you with the process.

At ICS, the designated contact person is Jana Veselá. However, you may also reach out to any member of the university’s contact person network or directly to MUNI Ombudsperson Eva Janovičová’s office.

Complaints in All Areas of Social Safety

If you wish to file a complaint related to social safety issues, please contact the Ombudsperson via the reporting form available on the Masaryk University Rights Protection website.

Gender Equality Plan

To promote gender equality, Masaryk University will implement a range of measures as part of its strategic commitment to the principles of transparency, equality, and responsibility, as well as to support the work-life balance of all its employees and students.

At ICS, we contributed to the creation of the university’s Gender Equality Plan primarily by sharing insights from the gender audit conducted at our institute in the summer of 2024.
