Description This research aims to investigate the feasibility of 3D printing a capsular device that utilizes a dual-trigger release mechanism. The capsule's primary structure would consist of HPMC, a polymer known for its time-dependent release properties. The addition of carefully selected natural polysaccharide (citrus pectin) would ensure degradation by colonic bacteria, providing a microbiota-triggered release component. 3D printing of capsules containing pectin has proven to be a suitable method for colonic drug delivery system manufacturing. The targeting of this colon drug delivery system was confirmed by in vivo release testing in healthy volunteers.
