Description | Background: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of implementing an eight-week mindfulness MFPFW program on emotion regulation strategies, sleep quality, and mindfulness in psychology students through a series of repeated measures. Method: The research sample consisted of 65 students (M = 16.9%, F = 83.1%). Sleep diaries andquestionnaire instruments, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), and Five Facets of Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ-15-CZ), administered before the program began, at midpoint, at the end, and six weeks after completion, were used. Results: The FFMQ had a positive effect on sleep quality, mindfulness and cognitive reappraisal and a negative effect on emotional suppression. There were significant differences between the first and second measurements in all variables studied. Only mindfulness showed significant positive changes during the last four weeks of the program. Data collected six weeks apart from the end of the program showed significant changes only in emotional suppression. Conclusion: the MFPFW may represent a suitable program for the general population due to its accessibility and the benefits it brings. |
