Description | Introduction: Clinical pharmacology is an essential part of the education of future physicians and pharmacists. Traditional teaching methods, however, often lack elements that promote active engagement of students and the development of their pharmacological and prescribing skills. Modern teaching should lead to critical thinking and stimulate the development of therapeutic decision-making. And it is this shift in education that the tools on the Prescribing Education platform can facilitate. Aim: The aim of this presentation is to introduce the options of the Prescribing Education platform as a tool for improving and streamlining the teaching of applied and clinical pharmacology. Methods: The presentation is based on an analysis of available features and tools at the Prescribing Education platform with an emphasis on their practical use in pharmacology education. Results: From the teachers' point of view, the platform provides access to quality teaching materials and professional development courses. Due to the freely available content, it also represents a time-saver in the preparation of teaching and supports the introduction of modern educational approaches. In this presentation, we will introduce the audience to the useful tools of the Prescribing Education platform and provide a more detailed introduction to teaching methods such as the flipped classroom and student-run medication review. We will also add our own experiences with implementing these methods. Conclusion: The Prescribing Education platform offers modern and trustworthy resources for the innovation of clinical pharmacology education that reflect current trends in medical education. The use of active and problem-based learning techniques improves students' readiness for clinical practice and strengthens their competence in rational prescribing. Acknowledgement: The platform was developed within the EurOP2E project. The project was linked to the Education Working Group EACPT at UMC Amsterdam and co-funded by ERASMUS+. The platform now brings together the outputs of the ERASMUS+ EuroPE+ and CP4T projects and is co-created by teachers of clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy across Europe. Supported by ERASMUS+ CP4T (2022-1-NL01-KA220-HED-000088069) and by the state budget through MEYS, LRI CZECRIN (LM2023049). |
