Description In our talk under the Safer Internet Day at Department of media studies and journalism of Faculty of social studies at Masaryk University we first defined the concept of the game as such, then the types of games and their various forms in culture and society, e.g. persuasive games, sports and so called larps among others. In the context of spreading the game elements into everyday life we referred to the current phenomenon of gamification. In terms of suitability for target groups we were also dealing with a rating of computer games, role of parents in regulating access to games and the internet in general. Next we presented to the audience, mainly secondary school teachers, the possibilities of using games in education, specific applications in teaching and their potential for the acquisition of useful skills. Finally, the presentation summarized the benefits and drawbacks of games for the students. After the screening of a document about the addiction on computer games discussion with experts was held on the issue.
