On Thursday, October 26, the participants of the first year of the Cyber Valkyries conference will be able to convince themselves that they do not necessarily need to be able to program to enter cyber security. The event, aimed at supporting the employment of women in cyber security not only in IT positions, will take place at the Edison Filmhub in Prague and will feature a total of seven speakers from the commercial and public spheres, including our colleague Natalia Peterková from the CSIRT-MU team. Admission to the conference is free.

In the main part of the program, each of the speakers will present their journey to cyber security and what they are doing now. They are mainly intended to point out that it is not necessary to have an IT education to work in cyber security. For example, lawyers, analysts, coordinators or researchers can also find employment.

Natalia Peterková, who works in our CSIRT-MU cyber security team as a cyber security education specialist, will also appear among the names of the lecturers. "At first I wanted to attend the conference only as a visitor. But my colleague pushed me to take up the offer to share my experience,” she explains her journey. She is also curious to see how the other speakers will evaluate their career paths.

“I'm interested in their perspectives on how women in cyber security can take place in non-IT positions. I found myself in it - cyber security is fun and fulfilling and I will be happy if I inspire someone to make a similar career decision," says Natalia, whose own path in the CSIRT-MU team led through various positions from back office to education specialist to the current agenda dealing with security policies for the internal legislation of Masaryk University.

The conference is almost full, but if you're interested in the topic, check the website and registration to see if there are any spots left.
