Description Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato is a general term for a group of 18 bacterial genus Borrelia genomospecies, where some of the species are agents of disease Lyme borreliosis, respectively. B. afzelii, B. garinii, and B. burgdorferi sensu stricto. Acting as a reservoir of bacteria, small mammals and birds, are very important especially rodents. The main vector Bbsl are ticks, especially Ixodes ticks. DNA of Bbsl was also detected in some other blood-sucking arthropods, mainly insects (mosquitoes, lice and fleas). In this study, we focus on the possible occurrence of Bbsl in rodents, parasitic mites on them, including ticks. As a source of study material were selected rodents as a reservoir of Borrelia and ticks as a major vector.
