Description	A brief case history is presented of a 76-year-old cardiac patient with pleural effusion. Anaerobic Campylobacter fetus was recovered from the blood culture and was confirmed by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and rep-PCR. Microbiological properties of the strain isolated are summarized.
