Description	Methyl 3-oxo-2-hexylcyclopentanecarboxylate is used as a part of fragrant compositions. This developed process starts from 2-hexylpent-2-en-1-one that reacts with hydrogen cyanide under corresponding nitrile formation. Nitrile is in situ converted in methyl 3-oxo-2-hexylcyclopentanecarboxylate.
