| Description | Male patients consecutively hospitalized in the psychotic ward of the Department of Psychiatry were included if they were experiencing their first admission for first-episode schizophrenia (according to ICD 10). In our sample a statistically significant improvement of both positive and negative symptoms was observed, but the reduction was less marked for negative symptoms 74 % of patients fulfilled the criteria for remission. In spite of this at discharge the most frequent symptom was lack of judgement and insight. |
