| Description | The castles of Rokštejn and Brtnice, situated in the central part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands (Czech Republic), represent significant architectural monuments whose stone construction phases are closely associated with the later stages of the medieval colonization process and the ensuing consolidation of regional settlement and manorial structures. For a considerable period, these construction phases remained obscured by the masonry itself as well as by subsequent reconstruction interventions carried out within the framework of heritage conservation. As a result, a substantial amount of historical and archaeological information has been irretrievably lost. Moreover, the impact of tourism has further contributed to the degradation of the castles’ informational and interpretive value. |
