| Description | Using a combined DNA and protein extraction protocol, results of dental calculus analyses were obtained from three archaeological sites. In particular, DNA and proteins associated with the oral microbiome, infection and immune response were analysed. Most significant, however, were the proteins recovered from the diet, demonstrating the direct consumption of various plant taxa. |
