Slavic *ryba “fish” in the Context of Indo-European Ichthyonymy

Description	This contribution summarizes all published etymological attempts to explain the Common Slavic word ryba “fish”. A critical examination in the light of semantic parallels favors two proposed etymological solutions which confirm the comparison with West Germanic rubo “caterpillar; burbot, eelpout”.
