| Description | The study deals with the solemn coronation of the so called Icon from Brno in 1736. Under perspective of historical anthropology and using the example of the handling of a sacred image, I seek to understand the meanings which contemporary people ascribed to the image as such and to the whole of the coronation celebrations, understood as a ritual. I maintain that the imagination linked to several phenomena within the coronation celebrations had a fundamental significance for the manner of construing religious/social space in a given place and time. |
