Description	Aspiration/ingestion of a foreign body can cause a serious complication in dentistry. This study describes symptoms accompanying aspiration/ingestion of orthodontic appliance components, diagnostics and treatment of these complications. In addition, possible preventive measures are proposed. In the end, a case of swallowing the transpalatal arch by a 16-year-old patient is reported.
