Description	In 1969, F. Grüll collected an Asteraceae species in a waste disposal site in a Brno-Štýřice. The herbarium specimen is deposited at the herbarium uf Msaryk University in Brno. The collector identified the plant as Carthamus lanatus. It turned out after a reexamination of the specimen that it should be assigned to Scolymus maculatus. It is the first record of this Mediterranean species in the Czech Republic.
