Description	This review provides overview of techniques used for merging of consecutively injected plugs of reactants within in-capillary enzymatic assays. The article is divided as follows: after an introduction, general features of on-line capillary electrophoresis and principles and applications of electrophoretically mediated microanalysis, at-inlet reactions and transverse diffusion of laminar flow profiles techniques are consecutively discussed and illustrated. Future directions are outlined in conclusion.
