The projected eight-volume Flora of the Czech Republic including a complex taxonomic and chorological treatment of vascuslar plants with their karyological, ecological and phytocoenological characteristics is the first detailed critical flora of this ter ritory. It is based on original study of plant material, using contemporary scientific knowledge in methods of study. The treatment of certain genera represents small scale monographs. Vol. 1. was published in 1988, vol. 2 in 1990, vol. 3 in 1992, vol. 4 in 1995, vol. 5 in 1997, work on vol. 6 proceeds smoothly and will be finished in 1997. The flora is irreplaceable in Czech botany, representing Czech botany abroad.
