| Description | The commentary to Act No. 34/2021 Coll., on the screening of foreign investments and on amendments to related acts (the Foreign Investment Screening Act) provides an erudite and detailed interpretation of this act, which represents a direct response to European law. Its value lies primarily in the critical assessment of the legislative intent and its practical consequences, as it is one of the most significant interventions in transactional practice in the Czech Republic in recent decades. The act introduces a strong public law element into private law transactions, which we have not been accustomed to until now. The ambition of the commentary is not only to provide a dry interpretation of the paragraph-by-paragraph wording of the act, but also to provide a practical manual for orientation in an environment where business interests meet national security. |
