| Description | The possible link between increased excitability and neurodegeneration is already known from the literature. The accumulation of proteins associated with neurodegeneration (NAPs) leads, at least initially, to increased irritation of nerve tissue and thus to its increased electrical activity. In the later stages, NAPs tend to cause damage to synapses and a decrease in tissue activity. In this study, we focused on analyzing the spontaneous electrical activity of hippocampal slices from patients suffering from drug-resistant epilepsy, the NAP content in these samples, and the possible correlation between these parameters. |
