IT service satisfaction surveys at the university are by no means a mere formality. They were established on the ICS’s own initiative with the aim of systematically monitoring and utilising user feedback to improve and innovate our services. We approach survey respondents every December, and the results are evaluated and published during the following semester.
"Satisfaction surveys are a key tool for us. We conduct them because we want to know how our services function in practice. It is not just about confirming what we do well, but mainly about identifying areas where we can improve," says Jan Mysliveček, Director of the Institute of Computer Science. "We are pleased that we have managed to maintain high satisfaction levels over the long term, and at the same time, we appreciate that the surveys provide us with valuable input for developing new areas, such as the use of artificial intelligence."
More than two thousand respondents (both students and staff) from across the university participate in the survey, giving the collected data a high degree of validity.
Satisfaction with IT services remains high
The overall service rating for 2025 reached 1.83, which is very similar to the year before last (1.82). The rating scale corresponds to school grading, where 1 represents excellent results.
The results show that the university succeeds in maintaining a stable and high-quality IT infrastructure, which is an essential part of its daily operations. This is also confirmed by the respondents themselves in their comments:
"I have nothing but praise. One only truly appreciates the quality of IT services when on an internship abroad or at another university."
"I am well aware of what the situation is like elsewhere – and they are nowhere near having such a strong and systematic infrastructure. So, thank you for the good work!"
Strengths: Everyday services work reliably
The good news is that, in the long term, the best-rated services are those that users rely on daily: the Microsoft 365 package, remote connection via VPN, email services, and IT support itself. These services form the backbone of everyday work and study, making their stability and reliability crucial.
"People often don’t notice IT... until something stops working. But these services are essential every single day – and I am glad they work brilliantly."
The survey as a key source of areas for improvement
At the same time, the survey clearly highlights areas where the ICS could focus more attention in the future. These include, for example, the SUPO system, E-prezenčka (E-reading room), and printing services.
The feedback on E-prezenčka illustrates how significant user input can be. "Regarding the E-prezenčka service, users pointed out issues with scan quality and minor user interface flaws. We have subjected both areas to a deeper analysis. As part of the updated version of E-prezenčka, which we plan to deploy alongside the new library system by the end of the summer, we will improve certain UX elements and add a feature for reporting poor-quality scans," adds Jiří Poláček, Head of the Library Systems and Open Science Department.
AI as a new topic: Great potential and expectations
For the first time, the survey also introduced the topic of artificial intelligence, which is becoming an increasingly important part of the academic environment.
Several interesting trends emerged from the results:
- Over 60 % of respondents use AI tools daily or several times a week.
- Fewer than 40 % of respondents are aware of the availability of AI tools.
- Respondents show a strong interest in awareness, training, and a clearer definition of the areas in which they can use AI at the university.
The results thus demonstrate that AI is not just a technological trend, but a genuine challenge and opportunity for the university's further development. "The survey results regarding AI were available to us at the beginning of 2026. Thanks to them, we were able to precisely tailor a pilot campaign for awareness and training on the Microsoft Copilot AI tool. In the spring of 2026, we trained over a thousand users on this tool, and the user base increased by 55% compared to the previous semester. I am very curious to see how this successful campaign and training series will be reflected in the ratings and opinions of respondents in future surveys," adds Jan Mysliveček.
Together towards further improvement
The satisfaction survey confirms that Masaryk University's IT services maintain a high standard in the long term. At the same time, however, it shows that there is room for improvement and that users are keen to actively participate in this process.
It is precisely this combination of a stable foundation and openness to new topics, such as artificial intelligence, that gives the university an excellent starting point for future growth.
