On Friday, September 25, we participated in the nationwide science outreach event “Researcher's Night”. At our stations in the KYPO Lab at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, we introduced visitors to the world of data, citizen science, and artificial intelligence through interactive demonstrations and activities. For example, the journey through the history of data storage, themed quizzes, and the opportunity to try creating a simple computer game using AI generated a great deal of interest. The event attracted hundreds of curious visitors of all ages, who were able to experience firsthand how data influences our daily lives and modern research. Here is a selection of photos capturing the atmosphere of the entire evening.
Jiří Filipovič from Masaryk University’s Institute of Computer Science has now succeeded as the main proposer of a new COST Action that will connect European experts in autotuning. In this interview, he explains why existing tools need to be better aligned, what the network can offer early-career researchers, and how computer game development first led him into science.
Jiří Filipovič will lead the new COST Action AutoPEAC, bringing together European experts in software autotuning, performance optimization, and energy efficiency.
