The Rector Awarded Luděk Matyska with a Gold Medal on the 105th Anniversary of the University
Luděk Matyska, our former director and current director of the CERIT-SC center, received a Gold Medal from the Rector of Masaryk University. The ceremony took place on January 31 on the occasion of the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the founding of MU.
A total of 31 personalities from Masaryk University were awarded in the Karl Engliš Great Hall in the Faculty of Law. The MU Gold Medal is awarded to significant representatives of science, culture, higher education and public life, as an expression of appreciation for long-term extraordinary merits for their development.
Profesor Luděk Matyska medaili obdržel za dlouholeté působení na předních vedoucích pozicích na Masarykově univerzitě (děkan Fakulty informatiky, ředitel Ústavu výpočetní techniky), za významné akademické aktivity (založení Superpočítačového centra Brno, založení Laboratoře pokročilých síťových technologií Sitola, zavedení semestrálních kurzů na témata počítačové sítě, architektura superpočítačů, high-performance computing) a za vědecké a publikační úspěchy (vedení celkově 18 vědeckých projektů na národní i evropské úrovni a publikace řady vědeckých prací). Professor Luděk Matyska received the medal for long-term work in leading positions at Masaryk University (dean of the Faculty of Informatics, director of the Institute of Computer Science), for significant academic activities (establishment of the Brno Supercomputer Center, establishment of the Sitola Advanced Network Technologies Laboratory, introduction of semester courses on computer network topics , supercomputer architecture, high-performance computing) and for scientific and publication achievements (leadership of a total of 18 scientific projects at national and European level and publication of a number of scientific papers). Congratulations!
Slavnostní podvečerem byl tak první z událostí, kterou Masarykova univerzita v letošním roce oslavuje 105. výročí založení. A na oslavách měl náš ústav i další významné zastoupení – náš kolega Martin Mazánek vedl a dirigoval Symfonický orchestr MU, kdy během minikoncertu zazněla i jedna jeho vlastní skladba.
The festive evening was thus the first of the events that Masaryk University is celebrating the 105th anniversary of its foundation this year. And our institute had another significant presence at the celebrations - our colleague Martin Mazánek led and conducted the MU Symphony Orchestra and one of his own compositions was also performed during the mini-concert.
